retrack: journal · daily journal

write to retrack@mostlylentils.com. one person reads it. a few answers first.

where did my unfinished writing go?

with a drawing set, leaving the app puts unfinished writing away. reveal pages with your drawing, then choose “continue writing.” each mode keeps its own draft. drafts are saved encrypted on this phone; the checkmark saves them into the journal, which can sync through private icloud. a recovery error leaves the saved copy untouched and offers retry.

why does the page have a limit?

the space is meant to make writing feel finishable: ten lines for a free page and three for each guided answer. you may leave questions blank. tap the checkmark to save and see your entry in pages. return to today whenever you want to write again. an oversized paste is refused whole, with a message, so it is never silently shortened.

i forgot my drawing

settings → your drawing → forgot your drawing? explains the reset. it permanently erases real words and unfinished drafts on this phone, retains ordinary covers, and lets you choose a new drawing. the phone passcode does not recover the hidden words. read the confirmation before proceeding.

the drawing isn't taking

settings → your drawing → practice your drawing offers a fictional page and visible feedback. on ordinary history, hold one finger still, then draw at roughly the same size and angle as your original. lift briefly between strokes. a wrong drawing does nothing there, on purpose. practice does not change your drawing or reveal your real pages.

the cover looks nothing like what i wrote

covers are generic sentences from a built-in bank, not summaries. an available on-device model may choose a sentence from that bank; it never writes new cover text. the cover stays fixed once selected, until the page is edited. neutral marks accompany covered pages; meaningful drawings are visible after reveal.

what is free?

three distinct writing days, with multiple pages allowed on each. then a one-time purchase at the price shown by the app store. your old pages stay readable. cancelled or failed purchases do not erase unfinished writing.

notifications are off

settings → reminder explains when iphone notification permission is off and offers “open settings.” after enabling notifications there, return to journal to choose your time. a reminder is confirmed only once it has been scheduled.

exported copies

export includes all kept pages, with your real words, as plain text or pdf. unfinished drafts are not included. closing export removes the app's temporary files; copies you save or share elsewhere remain.

i bought it on one iphone and it's locked on another

settings → restore purchase, signed into the same apple account. the purchase is a one-time app store purchase and follows your apple account, not your phone.

my pages aren't on my other iphone

both phones need to be signed into the same apple account with icloud drive on. the real words also need the sealing key, which travels through icloud keychain; turn on icloud keychain on both phones if it is off. unfinished drafts stay on the phone where you wrote them. kept pages sync when icloud is available.

accessibility

journal follows your iphone's text size, appearance, and reduce motion settings. larger text gets more room while keeping the same writing allowance. the optional drawing feature requires a touch gesture; you can use the journal without setting a drawing. if a control or gesture is difficult to use with your accessibility setup, please tell us which iphone, ios version, and feature you use. do not send private journal entries.

can you recover my pages?

no. we have no server and no copy. that is not a policy, it is how the app is built.
